Pharmacovigilance Requirements Brief Overview

Micronesia

Medicines regulation in the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) is administered through the Department of Health and Social Affairs (DHSA) and its pharmaceutical regulatory functions. The DHSA’s official Policies and Regulations page publishes the national pharmaceutical legal and regulatory materials, including the Safe Pharmaceutical framework and pharmaceutical-product registration instruments, while the current Pharmaceutical Product Registration Regulations address registration and control of products supplied in the FSM. The publicly available material reviewed is focused primarily on registration, importation, quality and supply controls and does not clearly establish a comprehensive MAH-specific pharmacovigilance system defining a local QPPV, PSMF, universal numerical ICSR reporting deadlines, routine PSUR/PBRER frequencies, a standardized RMP requirement, or a pharmacovigilance-inspection cycle. These requirements should therefore not be imported from United States or EU rules and presented as FSM law. For products intended for the FSM market, applicable post-market safety reporting and product-specific obligations should be confirmed directly with DHSA and reflected in registration or supply conditions.
