Pharmacovigilance Requirements Brief Overview

Saint Lucia

Medicines oversight in Saint Lucia is carried out through the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Nutrition, with pharmacy practice supported by the Pharmacy Council of Saint Lucia. Regional pharmacovigilance support is available through CARPHA’s VigiCarib network, a system for submitting suspected adverse drug reactions, adverse events following immunization, and reports of substandard, falsified, or otherwise defective medical products for analysis and referral to the relevant national office. Official Ministry communications continue to emphasize safe access to and supervised use of medicines, including the Government’s public guidance on prescription medicines. Publicly available national sources do not set out blanket requirements for every marketing authorisation Holder (MAH) to appoint a resident QPPV, maintain a local PSMF, or comply with a complete schedule of national ICSR and periodic-reporting timelines. Companies should confirm authorisation-specific obligations with the Ministry, maintain documented safety procedures and a reachable local contact, and promptly report significant adverse reactions, safety signals, quality defects, recalls, and related risk actions through the applicable national or VigiCarib channel.
